Matching CPU to Heatsink Cooler

Back when I was given an opportunity to review SilverStone’s new Argon series of coolers, the system I was using at the time for testing CPU coolers was based on an AM3+ processor. The AR03 was recommended out of the two for my platform, due to it’s larger physical size than a Socket 1155 CPU – for which the smaller AR01 would be more appropriate.

be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 Tower Heat Pipe CPU Cooler Introduced

By be quiet! be quiet!, market leader of power supplies in Germany for seven consecutive years*, today announces an extension to its successful CPU cooler series. With ”Shadow Rock 2“ the German company is adding a square tower heat pipe cooler to their portfolio, which is able to cope with up to 180 watts of power and so can disperse the heat of all current high-end processors. 1.25 square meters of cooling surface achieved by fins The symmetrical heat sink consists of 51 aluminum fins that together give over 1.25 square meters of cooling surface for immediate heat dissipation. The fins have a wave contour on the cooler’s exterior to reduce air turbulence and lower the noise level of the […]

Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell Desktop Processor Review

After months of rumors and speculation, Intel’s 4th generation Core CPUs, code-named Haswell, are here. Haswell CPUs are a “tock”– that is, a new microarchitecture– in Intel’s “tick-tock” annual release cycle. Based on the same 22nm fabrication process and 3-D transistors introduced with last year’s Ivy Bridge CPUs, Haswell brings with it a new socket 1150, which means that you can’t just drop it in to replace an Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge CPU, since you’ll need a new motherboard. But what new features and performance does Intel’s Haswell processor bring with it? Let’s find out.
