NEC Express5800/R120f-1M and Express5800/R120f-2M Rack Mount Servers Debut

NEC Express5800/R120f-1M and Express5800/R120f-2M Rack Mount Servers Debut

Processing performance increased by up to 40%

NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced IT, networking and communications solutions, announced today the launch of two new models of its Express5800 Series of industry-standard servers. These new servers feature the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3 product family and include two 2-socket rack mount servers, which improve input/output (I/O) performance with storage and other peripheral devices.

These new rack-mount servers, equipped with high speed DDR4 memory, enable processing performance to be improved by up to 40%* when compared to previous models. Furthermore, 12Gb/s SAS RAID controllers and hard drives have strengthened I/O performance and made the new Express5800 servers ideal for server virtualization.

“Delivering total solutions for consolidation and operational efficiency in the data center or cloud is a top priority for NEC,” said Mitsuhiro Murooka, vice president, Enterprise Technologies – IT, NEC Corporation of America. “Our new Express5800 models incorporating the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 is an ideal virtualization server and, when combined with NEC’s industry-leading, commercially available ProgrammableFlow® Networking Suite SDN technology, not only delivers new levels of operational agility and flexibility, but reduces total cost of ownership.”

“NEC is a long-time manufacturer of Intel® Xeon® processor-based servers,” said Shannon Poulin, vice president, Data Center Group, Intel. “NEC’s general purpose server line powered by the intelligent performance and energy efficiency capabilities of the new Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family will offer our mutual customers a robust, low-cost solution for server virtualization and mission critical system deployments.”

Moreover, these servers are equipped with the on-board EXPRESSBUILDER system setup utility that supports the Microsoft® Windows Server® 2012 R2 Hyper-V automatic setup. The servers also feature an enhanced EXPRESSCOPE®Engine 3 for operational management support, including the automatic recording function of the remote keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) movements for fault monitoring the system, regardless of the OS type or status. This enables system issues to be solved quickly and easily.

Additionally, these new servers are operable in ambient temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), which helps data centers to reduce facility cooling costs, total power consumption and CO2 emissions without sacrificing uptime.
