Themis RES-XR5 Rack Mounted Servers with Intel E5-2600 v3 Processors Announced

Themis Computer® today announced the next generation of RES-XR5 rack mounted servers with Intel® E5-2600 v3 processors and up to eighteen cores per processor. Designed to address diverse workloads and the growing needs of mission-critical applications, RES-XR5 servers offer a three-fold increase in processor performance compared to the RES-XR4 servers.

RES-XR5 servers feature expansion slots, extensive high-speed I/O, storage, and enhanced reliability options that provide users with configuration versatility and system expansion to meet current and future system requirements. Themis RES systems incorporate advanced thermal and mechanical design features that include dual-redundant, hot swappable AC and DC power supply options. The RES chassis design incorporates aluminum die cast front and rear panels, and strong, lightweight aluminum that improves system resistance to corrosion. Themis RES servers are an attractive solution for programs where Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) are essential considerations. RES servers can be mounted in standard commercial racks or mobile, rugged transit cases.

RES-XR5 enhancements include more processing cores and an upgrade from Ivy Bridge to Intel’s Haswell architecture. The core count ceiling for Intel’s previous generation Xeon X5 v2 CPU was set at 12 and the new Xeon E5-2600 v3 product family provides up to 18 cores per socket and 45MB of last-level cache. Additionally, an extension to Intel Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (Intel AVX2) doubles the width of vector integer instructions to 256 bits per clock cycle for integer sensitive workloads and delivers up to 1.9x improvement in performance.
